About Us
Welcome to the Department of Medical Microbiology at Babcock University Teaching Hospital (BUTH).We serve BUTH clinical wards, clinics (GOPD, MOP, SOP including Ophthalmology, ENT & Dental), A/E, and referral hospitals across Sagamu, Ijebu-Ode, Ikenne, Iperu, and peripheral centers.
Our department delivers high-quality education to medical, medical lab, and nursing students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We are also at the forefront of Infection prevention and control training for healthcare workers and the Babcock University community.
Clinical Activities
As part of BUTH’s diagnostic services, the Department of Medical Microbiology offers microbiology, parasitology, virology, serology testing, and other medically relevant tests. We also offer a diverse range of consultative, analytical, and teaching services, including infection prevention, control, and antimicrobial stewardship.
Our Special Treatment Clinic covers sexually transmitted infections, streptococcal, viral, and mycotic infections.
